The human head is formed from the bony structures of the skull and the embedded sense organs eyes, nose, mouth and ears as well as the brain inside. Tendons, ligaments, muscles, cartilage, connective tissue and the skin form the outer structures. The front of the head is the face, which in turn can be roughly divided into the forehead, eyes, nose, mouth, cheek and chin area.
The ears form one of the human sensory organs, whereby they serve not only to perceive sounds, but also as an equilibrium organ. The structure of the ear is divided into three areas: outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. Each of these areas has special functions, the interaction of which enables auditory perception.
The eyes form a highly sensitive sensory organ that serves to perceive light stimuli and transmits corresponding impulses via the optic nerve to the visual center in the brain, where the impulses are processed into images. The eye is often only associated with the eyeball, the front area of which is shaped by the cornea, conjunctiva, iris and pupil.
The shoulders form the connection between the upper arm and trunk. They include the shoulder joint, consisting of the head of the humerus and the shoulder blade with surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments, as well as the shoulder girdle. In addition to the shoulder blade, the clavicle and raven bone also belong.
The neck forms the connection between the head and trunk, whereby this relatively narrow section must accommodate the trachea, esophagus, larynx, thyroid, cervical spine, various nerve pathways and the blood channels for the supply of the brain. Numerous muscle groups serve to stabilize the neck and enable the head to move.
The mouth encompasses the externally visible lips as well as the body opening enclosed by the upper jaw, lower jaw and cheeks together with the internal structures such as teeth, gums, oral mucosa, tongue, palate and palate suppository. Towards the back, the pharynx connects to the oral cavity.
The nose is part of the human respiratory system. The outer nose includes the nose root (nose pyramid) at the top, the bridge of the nose, the tip of the nose, the lateral nostrils and the bridge between the nostrils. Except for the pyramid of the nose, the entire outer nose is made up of a flexible cartilage structure that can absorb minor impacts without being damaged.
